Catch people asking for what you sell
Set up alerts for the phrases buyers use when they are ready to look, and answer fast.
When to use it
People publicly ask for recommendations in your category or complain about your competitors.
Steps
- Write ten phrases: “looking for a [category]”, “alternative to [competitor]”, “[competitor] is down”, “recommend a [category]”.
- Create saved searches or alerts for them (X/Twitter search, Reddit search with RSS, Google Alerts, F5Bot-style tools).
- Check once a day. Reply to recommendation requests with a short, specific answer.
- Log each conversation: where, what they needed, outcome.
Template
Saw you're looking for [category] for [their use case]. [One honest sentence on fit.] I make [product]; it does [specific thing]. If it's not a fit, [alternative] is also good for [case].
How to know it worked
Conversations started per week and how many turn into signups.
Common mistakes
- Generic copy-paste replies are obvious and hurt your name.
- Too many phrases floods you; start with five.
