Turn rivals’ worst reviews into a comparison page
Buyers who are leaving a competitor search for alternatives. Meet them with an honest side-by-side.
When to use it
You have at least one known competitor with public reviews (G2, Capterra, app stores, Trustpilot) and a real difference you can show.
Steps
- Read the 1- and 2-star reviews of your main competitor and copy the five complaints that come up most.
- Keep only the complaints your product genuinely solves. Drop the rest; credibility is the point.
- Write “[Competitor] alternative for [your buyer]” with a short table: what they complain about, how you handle it, and one thing the competitor still does better.
- Add your price next to theirs, a two-line migration path, and one screenshot per difference.
- Link the page from your homepage footer and share it once in the community where those reviews are discussed.
Template
# [Competitor] alternative for [buyer] People leave [Competitor] mostly because of: [complaint 1], [complaint 2], [complaint 3]. | What buyers say | [Competitor] | [You] | | --- | --- | --- | | "[complaint 1 in their words]" | … | … | Where [Competitor] is still better: [honest point]. Switching takes [time]: [step 1], [step 2].
How to know it worked
Visits to the page from search and AI assistants, and signups that start on it, after 4 weeks.
Common mistakes
- Trashing the competitor reads as insecure. State facts, quote reviews, admit their strengths.
- A comparison without prices looks like it is hiding something.
