Become useful in one community before you post
Pick one place your buyers gather and earn the right to share your work there.
When to use it
A community of your exact buyer exists (a subreddit, Slack, Discord, forum) and allows founders who contribute.
Steps
- Choose one community only. Read the rules and the top posts of the past year.
- For two weeks, contribute: answers, resources, a short write-up of something you learned.
- Then share one useful artifact (a template, a teardown, data you collected), not a launch announcement.
- Mention the product in one line at the end, and stay in the comments all day.
- Turn every question you get into a reply, a doc or a feature request.
Template
Title: [What I learned / built] after [doing X] for [buyer] [3–5 short paragraphs of genuinely useful content.] [One line:] I'm building [product] to make this easier. Feedback welcome.
How to know it worked
Upvotes and comments on the shared post, and signups in the 72 hours after.
Common mistakes
- Posting in ten communities at once looks like spam everywhere.
- A launch post with no history in the community usually gets removed.
FirstTen turns this playbook into a ready draft for your business, with the exact buyer and words from your own site.
