Questions

How do I play?

Click anything in the picture that catches your eye. What you pick up goes in your bag: click it there to hold it, then click where to use it. Click one item and then another to put them together. The arrow at the top left takes you back a carriage.

I’m stuck. Is there a hint?

Ask the conductor (the button by your bag). He has a few notes written for every carriage; Contextrie, an open-source library for choosing an agent’s context, picks the note that best answers your question and shows you how sure it is.

How long is it?

About ten minutes. There are six memories to find; you can reach the end without all of them.

Is my progress saved?

In your own browser only, so you can close the tab and carry on. Your questions to the conductor are kept with the hint they got, so the same question always gets the same hint. We record anonymous counts only.

Can I build something like this?

Yes. It runs on Contextrie (open-source context and state) and Bref UI (open-source interface). Both are on GitHub.

Contextrie

Open-source context and state for AI: it keeps only what matters for the question.

In NightTrain: The conductor. When you ask for help, it judges every hint written for your carriage against your question and hands you the one that fits, with its score and reason. It never writes a hint of its own.

Open-source Svelte components for clean, accessible interfaces.

In NightTrain: The bag, the buttons, the conductor’s dialog and the memory meter, in an aurora skin.
