Write to 20 hand-picked buyers
Twenty personal emails to people who clearly have the problem beat a thousand templated ones.
When to use it
You can name the buyer’s role and find them (LinkedIn, company team pages, community member lists).
Steps
- Define the trigger that shows someone has the problem now (hiring for X, just raised, posted about Y, using competitor Z).
- Find 20 people with that trigger. Note one specific detail for each.
- Write one short email per person: the trigger, the problem, one sentence on what you do, one easy question.
- Send over three days; follow up once after four days.
- Offer a 15-minute call or a free setup, not a demo.
Template
Subject: [their trigger, in 4 words] Hi [name], saw [specific trigger]. Teams at that stage usually [problem in their words]. I built [product] to [outcome] — [one proof point]. Worth a 15-minute look this week, or not a priority right now?
How to know it worked
Replies out of 20 (aim for 4+), calls booked, and first customers from the batch.
Common mistakes
- Long emails get skimmed and archived.
- Sending without a real trigger is cold spam, whatever the tool.
